Meanwhile, In Matt’s Head…
Hey there!
I’ve been a bit quiet as of late, trying to figure a lot of things out. Sound direction, writing direction, performance direction, booking direction…
In fact, it’s the “booking direction” I wanted to ask you about. One of the things I’ve been contemplating is what YOUR priorities are. I’m working on the first multi-part goodie bag item for my Officers (still waiting for Patreon to fix their shit…) and wondering what it is YOU want.
Here’s my latest brain-spark: Budgets are tight, for both me and the conventions. I can’t (yet) afford to just fly wherever I want, and cons keep telling me that they’d book me if they could afford the plane ticket for a non-GOH.
With what the goodie bag stuff actually costs (and it’s always a lot, trust me), I could afford to budget for at least a few plane tickets instead. Would you rather have me spend the money on getting to cons so I can play more con shows?
Another option is I make my next Patreon goal about plane tickets… even if it’s just for 4-6 cons per year. If I can offer my show to a convention without having to ask for travel costs, I’d be able to get out there a LOT more.
Actually, on that note, it wouldn’t have to be all convention shows if I’m buying the ticket myself. I could book any old show and fly there, so long as I’ve got a couch to crash on for a couple of nights.
This would be a ticket for one, of course, until I could afford to take Runtt with me. One thing at a time.
In the mean time, I’m still searching for a bit of direction here, and I think I’m coming close. I’ve got faith and a light at the end of the tunnel, just need to bang away at some more rocks until I can squeeze through to the light.
Thanks!
