Yup, this one’s another tune I’m reviving for the upcoming dance sets. Since this one started life as a dance tune, it was a bit easier to convert. BUT…
Man, I didn’t know what the hell I was doing when this one first launched in 2008.
A big part of the process with these remixes is realizing how much extra crap I threw into my arrangements back then. Believe it or not, there is LESS going in in this version than the Songs from the Vault version. It took me several days to cut it down, re-perform a LOT of the piano and synth parts, and re-engineer the whole thing for a modern club mix.
And that’s another thing… these are definitely “club mixes.” Meaning they’re meant to be played through a big sound system and danced to. Album versions tend to emphasize the kick and the “pulsing” effect less. But when you’re running it at 100 decibels in a giant ballroom, this is the effect you’re looking for.
At least, I hope so. We’ll find out at Anthrocon…
