Sometimes I Don’t Understand Patreon.
It was with much joy and fanfare last month that I announced we’d made it to the “regularly schedule original artwork” goal. You all got the update from Patreon saying I hit $900-per-thing, right?
Now, despite not losing a single Officer or seeing any increase in declined payments, I seem to be back under the goal by $70.
I don’t know what voodoo Patreon uses to concoct this magic number, but I have to make a decision here: I’m going to abide by whatever their official front-page number says (since you’re gonna get an update about reaching goals whenever that number hits the mark anyway).
What’s this mean? The limited edition print I commissioned last month is still going out, of course, as soon as it comes back from the printer. This month, however, I’m not having any art made unless that number breaks $900 again.
Like many of you have said, you’d rather see me put money into plane tickets and touring than into “things”, so unless we really break that goal again, I’ll be saving up for some travel funds and continuing to release new music every month.
If you’ve got better ideas, questions, complaints, or an interpretive dance piece you’d like to respond with, please do. You know I’m always listening, ’cause I wouldn’t be here without you.
Viva la Revolution.
