So one of the things that’s suffered most since I started playing dance shows has been the Officer’s Club After-Parties. When I was playing 7pm shows at conventions, a 9pm after-party was perfectly reasonable.
But now? Now they’re scheduling me anywhere from 9pm to midnight where a dance actually belongs. And I doubt that many of you would want to join me for an after-party that may not even START until 1am.
So… I’m looking for ideas and suggestions for how to offer a VIP party experience for those of you who come to my shows. There are a couple stipulations…
- I may not always be able to host a party (i.e. if a convention has me sharing a room with other performers and they don’t want to host a party)
- Going forward, I don’t want the party events to be exclusively Officers-Only… but I want to be able to something special for you folks at the party.
- I cannot just say “Officers Drink for Free” since that would imply that I’m charging everyone else for booze. I shouldn’t have to explain why that’s not kosher. Besides, some of y’all are under legal drinking age anyway.
I really, really miss the after-concert chillaxing-with-beer vibe. But how should I do that at future conventions and events? Comment away, please!
